Claremore Public Schools Celebrates Indigenous Peoples' Day!🧡💛🦓 Claremore is a city filled with rich Native American history. The first school in Claremore, Indian Territory, was for the children of the Cherokee Nation. Classes were held in the old Cherokee Court House. "Claremore got its beginning when Chief Glahmo led his tribe of Osage Indians from Missouri in 1802. He soon established a fur trading post along the Verdigris River. The trading post sat atop a 25-acre mound, which came to be known as Clermont, a French word meaning “clear mountain.” Over time, traders and Indians alike began to refer to the Chief as “Chief Clermont.” (https://www.legendsofamerica.com/ok-claremore/) Give your tribe a shout-out in the comments below! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

World Mental Health Day❤ CPS wants you to know just as physical health is more than the absence of disease; mental health is more than the absence of mental illness. Mental health includes emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Throughout your life, if you experience mental health problems, your thinking, mood, and behavior could be affected. Many factors contribute to mental health problems, including 🧠Biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry 🚫Life experiences, such as trauma or abuse 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Family history of mental health problems Mental health problems are common, but help is available. People with mental health problems can get better, and many recover completely. We encourage you to "Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help and brave enough to ask for it." - Unknown CPS has several resources for our students, staff, and families. 9 - school counselors 12 - behavioral health coaches 3 - school-based social workers 6 - school nurses 3 - school resource officers 3 - school psychologist and a team of Grand Mental Health counselors in our buildings ready to help daily. In addition, we have a webpage with several community partnerships and resources for our families - https://www.claremore.k12.ok.us/o/chs/page/community-resources

At Claremore High School, students participated in a blood typing lab where they performed a presumptive test to confirm that the substance in question was actually blood. Next, samples were gathered from both the persons of interest and the victim. Students then used these samples to determine blood types and identify potential suspects who might have been at the crime scene. The lab followed a structured experimental design process, helping students learn about blood cells and their critical role in the human body. 🦓❤🔬 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
