We believe that every human being is of value with the right to optimal development. Each person is unique from all others. We must acknowledge this and base our programs upon methods of developing that uniqueness. We are committed to an educational program that recognizes the special value and needs of the individual student. Providing programs and materials for gifted students who demonstrate the potential for superior talents in academics, creativity, and critical thinking is an integral part of this commitment.

John Woolever states, “The beauty is not that we have found one way to teach the gifted, but that we recognize that many options are necessary, and we try to provide a good number of them.”

We believe that gifted students need a qualitatively differentiated program which takes into consideration individual learning styles and special abilities. The program should help develop growth in self-esteem and skills in independent study, creative thinking, and critical thinking.

Parents and teachers may request testing for students in grades 3 through 12. Teachers may request testing for PreK through 2nd grade. Testing must be requested two weeks before the beginning of the Testing Window so that consent forms can be collected and testing can be scheduled.

Testing is administered during these testing windows each year:

• Mid-August to early September

• Late April through the end of the school year

Once identified in any of these areas, students are encouraged to follow the programming available to meet the needs of their talent. Students are also urged to begin keeping a portfolio/resume of their work.
