Our beginner band class traveled to Skiatook to participate in a band contest. Participating in a band contest is a great way for students to showcase their musical skills and gain valuable performance experience. After performing, they were treated to an end of the year party at Wheels and Thrills! Lots of fun and skating were had by all...even Mr. Pringle and Mrs. Acord! The beginners did great and we can't wait to see how they will succeed in band next year!

Getting out of the classroom and into nature is a great way to learn about the environment and ecology! Our 7th graders got to take a field trip to the RSU Reserve. The RSU Reserve is a perfect place for students to explore and discover the wonders of the natural world. Students learned about different ecosystems, plants, animals, and the interactions between them. Plus, being outdoors and getting some sunshine is always a bonus! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Welcome back, Edison! šŸ¢ After a two-month hibernation, Mrs. Simmonds' Russian Tortoise classroom pet is slowly emerging from his slumber, much to the delight of his classmates! As part of his post-hibernation care, students took Edison outside, where he warmed up in the sun, stretched his legs, and enjoyed a well-deserved snack. As a Russian Tortoise, Edison has reached his full size, but that doesn't take away the joy he brings to the classroom. His small stature allows for easy handling and interaction with students, making him an ideal companion for learning about responsibility, empathy, and the wonders of the animal kingdom. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Who can get the most signatures? Students in Mrs. Sublett's classes are playing the game ā€œFind Someone Who Knowsā€ while studying Latin America. This activity can help students appreciate the diversity of cultures, histories, and perspectives of Latin America, and learn the value of working together to have a broader understanding of the world around them! Great job, Mrs. Sublett. We love when teachers teach outside the box! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Hammack's class made magic rubber eggs! They learned about chemical reactions that change properties of matter. They used food dye to add colors to vinegar and left the eggs for three days in it. The shell dissolved and left a beautiful bouncy raw egg! How cool is that lesson?! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Students in Mrs. Newbury's classes have spent the last few weeks learning about genetics and how different traits get passed from one generation to another. To show mastery, students had to combine chromosomal traits and decode what their "spud buddy" would look like. They then were tasked with building their spud according to those genes. Hands-on projects like these make learning more effective, and it helps students to build a strong foundation in scientific concepts. Good job to Mrs. Newbury and her students involved in this innovative and engaging lesson! HOW CREATIVE! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Students from Dr. Young and Ms. Fudgeā€™s classes are debating about hot topics in todays society in preparation for writing argumentative essays. By doing these debates, students are learning to think critically, develop their communication skills, and explore different opinions on important issues. These types of exercises are an integral part of their preparation for writing argumentative essays- and preparing them for state testing. It helps students form well-reasoned arguments and understand the importance of supporting their claims with evidence. And it's always fun to argue and debate each other! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

THE MURDER MYSTERY SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED
It was a real "whodunnit" in our 8th grade English classes! English teachers developed an engaging and interactive approach to teaching argumentative writing by doing a murder mystery activity. For this activity, the students learn how to make a claim, use reasons to support the claim, and support the reasons with evidence by analyzing information, evaluating evidence, and formulating claims based on their findings. They become true detectives! So the question remains... who did it? šŸ•µšŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
