Oh Deer is the name of the game. The students learn about some of the limiting factors deer come across. Students are either deer or a resource (food water or shelter). The deer have to choose a resource that they need to survive for that round. If they can find a matching resource they are able to live for another round but if the resource they need is not available then that student then turns into a resource for the following round.
Some of our teachers and Mrs. Bopp traveled to San Antonio last week to attend the PLC @ Work Institute. They were attending sessions on grading practices, school climate and culture. The PLC (Professional Learning Community) also focuses on effective collaboration between teachers to improve student learning. They are excited to share all the wonderful things they have learned with their colleagues.

Rotary Club of Claremore is preparing for the 32nd Annual Rotary Chili Supper on Friday, November 1, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Claremore High School cafeteria.
Tickets are $5.00 and include chili, dessert, and drink. With the purchase of a ticket, you will be entered into a drawing for the pictured Zebra quilt (need not be present to win). All proceeds benefit the Claremore Public Schools Foundation.
Tickets are available from any Rotary Club member, at the door or the Claremore Public Schools Foundation office.

Remember NOT ALL CANCER IS PINK; therefore, we will be raising money all year as we support our staff & students that are battling a variety of cancers.

Wondering what we did with our pumpkins from last week? Our 6th grade science classes had a pumpkin lab showing the carrying capacity, limiting factor, and biotic potential of pumpkins. And got a little messy in the process! This is what we call "hands on" learning!

Staff spotlight on Mrs. Lohmann:
I was born and raised in Alva, Oklahoma. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. I graduated from Alva High School in 2006 and from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 2010. I am currently on my 10th year of teaching. I have taught anywhere from 6th grade math to Trigonometry along the way. I am the proud aunt of Lucas Arnold and Nora Souri. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, my dogs, watching football, and playing softball. I chose WRJH because life brought me to Eastern Oklahoma and I wanted to find a friendly and positive environment to work in and call home.

Staff spotlight on Mrs. Talbert:
My name is Miranda Talbert. I graduated from Claremore Public Schools, and I furthered my education at the University of Central Oklahoma where I played college soccer for four years. After graduating from UCO, I fulfilled my life long dream of becoming an English teacher and soccer coach. I began my teaching and coaching career in Edmond Public Schools. Although my husband, Chase Talbert, and I enjoyed our time in Edmond, we always had our hearts set on moving back to our hometown of Claremore. I now teach 7th grade English at Will Rogers Jr. High and am Claremore High School's Girls assistant soccer coach. What I love most about Claremore Public Schools is the family atmosphere it creates for the faculty and students. I am fortunate to work alongside some of the most elite teachers and administration in Oklahoma.
