I got a lot of the greatest values in life from playing sports, from playing football - teamwork, sportsmanship, my work ethic, resiliency, dedication - I got it all by being on a team. Jon Gruden Last night the 3rd-grade CYFA football team and cheerleaders persevered through the rain and cold for their post-season tournament. They got the WIN and will play again, Saturday! With dedication like this future of CPS looks bright! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mr. Cummings, CHS History Teacher, is currently planning an Educational Travel Experience to Boston and New York City for 2021. Memories of educational school trips are among the most prominent of the formative years, primarily because they are a welcome break in the routine for both students and teachers. While their purpose is mainly to educate, they can also be a fun bonding experience for everyone involved. The trip can reinforce what a teacher has been instructing in class about a subject and help students understand the topic better. These trips help students to become more engaged in the learning process. They also help students grow their socialization skills as they are taken into new environments giving them opportunities to be respectful of the locations and cultures they visit. Also, a student's curiosity is on high alert when they are in new places experiencing new things, which helps with the retention of the information for a more extended period. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Lewis' class at Catalayah, brought the constitution to life in their classroom. After reading "We The Kids" the students wrote their own constitution, signed it, and now it's a part of what governs their classroom. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

What's the most important thing about those everyday objects around you? Can it be different for different people? "The Important Book" asks children to think deeply about the importance of everyday objects, from apples to spoons. Catalayah teacher, Mrs. Ward, asks students to look deeper and see what is important about each other. A lesson in critical thinking, gratitude, appreciation, humanity, and observation. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

It's virtually impossible to avoid the excitement inspired by pumpkins. They have come to symbolize not only the vibrant color of the fall season but the spirit of the season as well. This is the best time of the year to utilize the endless possibilities of pumpkins in classroom activities. Pumpkin-related curriculum links math, science, language arts, social studies, cooking, and the arts. Mrs. Cole's Pre-K class explored all the characteristics of the pumpkin last week and followed it up with a field trip to the pumpkin patch this week. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand. - Vince Lombardi All we ask is for our student-athletes to play with heart, to give it their all, to rely on their training, to be good sports, to be able to look back and know they left it all on the court. This is the soul of #CPSZEBRAPRIDE!
