Dan

If you were not able to be there, or you didn't get the opportunity to swing a bat, you missed a great night. The softball team turned the lights and had teachers, coaches, principals, former baseball players, current baseball players, and others trying to hit a softball as far as they could. Again if you missed it let me give you a recap of the highlights that took place.

First, there were two wrestling coaches that competed, and yes some wrestlers are athletic. Well in this case one proved that point and one did not. Coach Willard hit 5 home runs and made it into the top 8, Coach Weber hit ZERO and let himself, his other wrestling coaches, and his students down. I mean his parents were not there, but if they knew he hung a goose egg, they would be disappointed as well.

Second, we had two brothers Noah Grimett and Ethan Grimett enter the derby. It was age vs beauty, a has been vs a youngster. Well without me saying it, you know who won. BIG E put the smackdown on his past-prime brother in the derby and the trash talk. It was fun to watch those two, which have been in competition with each other for nearly 20 years.

The last match-up came in the finals between a former baseball player versus a current baseball player. Bucktrot vs Harrington for the custom bat, and they did not disappoint. Bucktrot looked like he just stepped off the field after playing his last game, as he crushed over 20 home runs in his 3 trips to the plate. But that was not enough as the youth and endurance proved to be too much, as we watched in amazement as Dan crushed one home run after another. Dan hit balls that bounced off the Roosa playground and into the parking lot. The most impressive swing came when Harrington hit a softball so far, it turned into the size of a BB as it landed on top of Roosa Elementary school. It was a great way to end the night, watching a current Zebra battle a former Zebra.

Congrats Dan Harrington on winning the Zebra Softball Home Run Derby. I am already looking forward to next year.
