Picture it: Roosa Elementary, March 2024. . . Staff and students showing how they interpret our Roosa creed.
I am a Roosa Student.
(Once a Roosa kid, always a Roosa kid π«)
I am unique and special.
(Never forget that - wear that unique crown with pride! π )
There is no one I would rather be than me.
(The world is so lucky to have a YOU! π π₯°)
Today, I have the courage to be the BEST that I can be!
(Work hard, be brave, and give every endeavor your best effort! πͺπ)
I am responsible for my own actions.
(Show integrity in every situation π)
I can learn,
(no matter how much you know, there is always something more to learn π)
I am loved,
(yesterday, today, and every tomorrow there is to come, you are LOVED! π π«Ά)
I have GREAT expectations for myself!
(Always hold yourself to high standards!π
)
I will reach for the stars,
(aim high! β¨οΈβ¨οΈβ¨οΈ)
I will succeed!
(We knew it all along! β€οΈπ€π¦)
How many former Roosa students can still recite the creed by heart?

See a need, fill a need!
Mrs. Brasfield may be new to our fulltime staff this year, but she's no stranger to Claremore Public Schools. With two of her own kids having been Zebra grads, and having subbed for the schools for several year previously, she came in running and ready to go!
In addition to the academic help she provides, she has been quite observant of other needs - like just how difficult it can be to concentrate on a lesson when your hair won't cooperate and keeps hanging in her face.
Her solution: Teleties! She was was already a fan of the hair ties and reached out to see if their company could help with the problem, and help they did! they supplied 4th grade with more than enough ties to solve the issue!
A huge thank you to both Mrs. Brasfield and to Teleties for helping us out!!

Thanks to a bond passed by citizens like each of you a few years back, our schools had some phenomenal STEM labs added on. Along with the equipment and space, we've got some energetic, passionate educators who've stepped into roles teaching and guiding.
After several years of afterschool STEM and STEAM clubs, Claremont and Roosa were awarded a grant through our amazing CPS foundation which gave our 5th graders the opportunity to merge their STEM experience with an after school robotics program!
They meet weekly at their own schools, but recently both schools had the great fortune of going to visit the CHS STEM building where Roosa and Claremont worked side by side with each other AND some our award winning CHS robotics teams!
Just one more reason Claremore Schools are great: the way we come together is absolutely unmatched!

πSome pretty awesome and pricelessly positive preK'ers told us how to make it happen!
Small, but mighty, Mrs. Youngs' afternoon PreK class took center stage bright and early this morning to lead their first ever Rise & Shine! They showed great effort and cheered each other to a roaring success! Great job, Pre-K - way to show that Roosa spirit!!

Roosa's Native American Club has learned so much this year from traditions, to stylings, to various customs. Along with all that, they've been learning how much better working together is for not only their community but for all of nature.
They've been volunteering their time to clean up the school hallways and pick up brush piles from the school garden. We are so proud of their hard work! π§Ήπ

Ms. Courtney joined the Roosa family several years ago and we can't sing her praises loudly enough! Whether hosting lunches with students or stopping to ask a kiddo how they are in passing, she makes sure each one she passes knows she cares.
Ms. Courtney flawlessly teaches students how to navigate tricky situations with friends and how and ways to handle big feelings. She offers invaluable reaources to staff and families each day - we'd be lost without her for sure!
Today and every day, Ms. Courtney, we thank you and all school based social workers. We appreciate you so very much!

"I Am NOT Going to Get Up Today!" might be the book he read to 4th grade, but he not only got up, but he showed up in a big way! Mr. Frazier loves getting to come to the schools and interact with students, so being a celebrity reader was going to be fun no matter what! But something tells me that the beaming young man in the Zebras lacrosse shirt, the one who calls him Papa, made this visit that much sweeter!
Thanks for getting up today and for sharing such a fun story with 4th grade! We're so glad you came!

How much fish could a tub o' fish fish if a tub o' fish could fish fish??
Students have been stopping by the library to make their best guesses and casting their votes for the mystery reader of the day. They're even taking time to pick their favorite Dr. Seuss book...do you speak for the trees, love kooky hats, or have like to try new and interesting foods? What's your favorite?
